I was watching a tv show which was about this guy who was highly religious and how they found out through forensics that he was the one planting bombs. Anyways, at the end of the show they showed this sign that said, “Where will you spend eternity? Heaven or Hell?” Right next to that they had John 3:16 which is from the bible.
So of course I do an online search rather than searching through the bible myself. This is what the verse was:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
I couldn’t of said it any better. Being Roman Catholic, I can’t believe that verse didn’t stand out to me before. Well, after all, it’s been years since I actually read an entire bible from front to back. But still, this is what I was brought up to believe and believe in it 100%.
When my grandmother was on her death bed back in 1995, she had mentioned she saw Jesus Christ at the corner of her room. When I heard this, it was something I was never going to forget. She wasn’t someone who would lie and she wasn’t delusional. Having her confirm His existence was more enough for me to believe in the power of the Holy Spirit and live my life under Christ’s wing.
I believe…do you?
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of Heaven and Earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into Heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
